Salvation

Salvation is the act of God demonstrating His undeserved grace and mercy to everyone who will receive it.

The Bible says that it is the only way to restore the broken relationship between us and God.

  • Relationship

We were created to enjoy a personal relationship with God. The life God intends us to live is one that is full and satisfied, in harmony with His purpose.
  • Sin

However, humanity has a natural desire to rebel against His will, an attitude called sin. Sin is a word that means “missing the mark.” Sin separated us from God, breaking our relationship with Him. No matter how hard we try, we can’t do enough good things to earn our way back into relationship with God.
  • Jesus

That is why Jesus, God in the the flesh, came to earth. He stood in our place and died the death our rebellion bought us. In a great act of mercy and love, Jesus paid the debt we could not owe. He is our salvation from a broken relationship with God and, ultimately, death.
  • Relationship Again

Now that the debt has been paid, we can step back into an abundant relationship with God. Once we accept the gift of life and reconciliation He has given us, we can count on an eternity with God.

The question is, have you accepted what Jesus has done for you and entered into a personal relationship with God?

What must I do to receive Christ?

We have all sinned according to the Bible.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

“As it is written, ‘There is no one righteous, not even one.'” – Romans 3:10

This death is separation from God, the source of all life. But thankfully God pays that penalty on our behalf so that we do not have to.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

This grace, a gift we don’t deserve, is given to us freely, and is no way based on our goodness. We cannot earn it. We cannot buy it. We cannot get it on our own. It is by God’s own desire and love that He gives it to those who receive it.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

This gift of grace is given to those who recognize Jesus for who He is, the Son of God sent down to pay a debt we could not pay. And like a gift, it must be accepted by the one to whom it is being offered. It is an intentional acceptance of Jesus.

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:13
