Jeff Barrow

Jeff Barrow and his wife Jennifer have been attending ICC since 2001.  Both were raised in the church and accepted Christ at an early age.  They found ICC while looking for a church with programs for children.  Their three daughters were brought up through the children’s programs at ICC.  During this time Jeff and his wife assisted with Children’s Super Church and eventually became teachers of a children’s class for third through fifth grades. Jeff has also served as a church deacon and as a member of the church finance committee.  Seeing the impact of children’s church programs in his own life, Jeff will always have a special love of these youth programs.

Jon Delong

Mr. DeLong has been attending ICC since 1982.  As an Elder, he helps prepare Communion, helps oversee the Deacons, has helped with childrens ministries, and helps with technical and AV needs for Sunday morning services.  Through the ministry of ICC and with the love and prayers of friends, Jon accepted Christ and was baptized in 1978.

What is an Elder at ICC?

At ICC, the Board of Elders provides guidance on doctrinal matters and oversight of the Senior Pastor on behalf of the congregation. The Elder Board also has ultimate authority over and oversight of the ICC Corporation, in accordance with the ICC bylaws. The responsibilities of the Elder Board includes, but is not limited to:

  • selecting the final candidate for Senior Pastor to be voted on by the congregation
  • approving draft church budgets to then be presented to the congregation membership for voting
  • mentoring and supporting the Senior Pastor
Qualifications for the office of Elder are set within scripture:

Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one side, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may be conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
